Join Symbiosis musician and producer Clive Williamson as he shares music that crosses genres and physical borders and creates an atmosphere of wellbeing through sound.

FEATURED SHOW: Edition 12 – One Degree of Separation
23/11/25: This month on Soundart Radio, presenter Clive Williamson explores the idea of “One Degree of Separation”: examining creative collaborations and connections through life, work and the music that he and his group Symbiosis have made over the years. The show includes music and words from Jaco Pastorius and Toyah; guitar from Steve Hackett and even a cameo appearance by Terry Wogan.
Clive shares early recording sessions from Ford Kenyon and Hatfield and the North; some work with Daevid Allen from Gong; and more recent projects with Gareth Glynn and Jonny B. We hear music from Symbiosis members John Hackett, Richard Bolton and Rupert Flindt, and discover saxophonist Ian Ritchie‘s experiments with AI. Totnes and Dartington are represented by local musicians Maloviere, Chris Glassfield and Jambones.

A special programme tracing the development of Ambient and Relaxation Music through a ‘lifetime of listening’ to calming sounds by musician and sound designer Clive Williamson of Symbiosis.
From hearing gentle Classics and Ella Fitzgerald on 78s; through discovering Cool Jazz on vinyl and Psychedelic Pop on a transistor radio; to a flute in the Taj Mahal and streaming natural sounds online… Join Clive as he investigates his ‘Ambient Family Tree’, with contributions from Brian Eno, Gong’s Daevid Allen and flautist John Hackett. His insightful recollections and discoveries include music from Debussy, Tangerine Dream, Paul Horn, Pink Floyd and, of course, 50 years (!) of Symbiosis.
